Seven major wins in the last year in “bet-the-ranch” cases involving widespread consumer rights and television viewing habits, one of the world’s most popular videogames and the next multi-billion dollar generation of genetically modified crops, secured Mr. Bicks a Law360 media and entertainment MVP award. This year, Ms. Hurst served as co-counsel on the copyright strategy used to secure a 6-3 vote by the U.S. Supreme Court in favor of the firm's client, Supap Kirtsaeng. This ruling, which has broad implications for an estimated $60 billion in copyrighted goods manufactured abroad, earned her a spot as one of Law360's IP MVPs. Mr. Ottenweller had a string of victories for tech companies this past year in courts across the country, winning a jury trial in the Eastern District of Texas for EMC Corp. against a prominent patent troll, forcing another patent troll into bankruptcy after securing a $1.3 million award of attorney’s fees for NVIDIA Corp., forcing another troll to abandon its case against EMC when every other defendant settled out and winning a patent suit for Synopsys Corp. on the eve of trial by striking the plaintiff’s entire damages case and key infringement theories. A winning streak in high-stakes appeals for a leading tech company (U.S.), DISH Network and Morgan Stanley, earned Mr. Rosenkranz a spot as one of Law360's appellate MVPs.
