Please join Heather Sussman, Emily Tabatabai, and Nick Farnsworth for the Cyber, Privacy & Data Innovation practice's webinar “Last-Minute Amendments- Changes to California’s New Privacy Law Ahead of the Effective Date.”

California's sweeping new privacy law, the California Consumer Privacy Act, is set to become effective on January 1, 2020, but compliance continues to be a moving target. In September, all eyes were on the California legislature as they considered a robust suite of amendments that could clarify ambiguities and address discrepancies underlying the prominent privacy statute. Six CCPA amendments were ultimately signed into law by the Governor on October 11, 2019. Though additional amendments may be considered in the future, there will be no further legislative changes to the law before the January 1, 2020 effective date.

This webinar is the fifth in a series on U.S. privacy law developments in 2019 and will cover the CCPA amendments made this year and what they mean for businesses seeking to finalize their compliance programs.

  • Which amendments survived the legislative sessions and were signed into law?
  • Which amendments failed to gain traction or narrowly missed enactment?
  • How is the law changing in advance of its January 1, 2020 effective date?
  • What does this mean for the law moving forward?
  • How can businesses operationalize these changes and build flexibility into their compliance programs?
