Sonora received her J.D. from the Howard Law School in Washington, D.C. While in law school, she participated in the Howard Criminal Justice Clinic where she represented indigent individuals charged with misdemeanors in Washington, D.C. Superior Court. Sonora was also a student attorney in the Howard Civil Rights Clinic where she contributed to an amicus brief in the landmark case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

Avery has experience assisting with various aspects of litigation, including pre-litigation engagement, legal research and analysis, motion practice, and discovery disputes. With a background in biomedical engineering, she provides expertise in matters involving a wide range of technologies, from life sciences to computer programming.
Avery graduated cum laude from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. While at ASU Law, she served as the President of the Intellectual Property Students' Association, Co-Chaired an ASU Law Event hosting United States Patent and Trademark Office Director Kathi Vidal and several Patent Trial and Appeal Board judges, and was a Fellow at The McCarthy Institute, ASU Law's premier Intellectual Property research organization. She also served as a Limited Recognition Practitioner in the Lisa Foundation Patent Law Clinic, in which she provided supervised legal services, representing pro bono clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She obtained her B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University, where she earned the Moeur Award for achieving a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 4.0.
Prior to joining Orrick, Avery served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable James A. Teilborg in the United States District Court, District of Arizona. In that role, she addressed complex legal issues in numerous areas of law, including patent litigation, employment disputes, civil rights actions, and administrative law. From this experience, Avery developed valuable skills in legal writing and in handling all stages of litigation, from the motion to dismiss stage through to trial.

He helps clients address reputational challenges and maximize the opportunities affecting their organizations and stakeholders. He serves as a trusted advisor to the C-suite and Boards across numerous industries around the world. He develops strategies for Congressional hearings, corporate layoffs, federal investigations, mergers and divestitures, multi-country recalls, executive transitions, organizational change management initiatives, cybersecurity and privacy incidents and legal and financial crises.
Prior to joining Orrick, David served as the Chief Marketing Officer at SonicWall, a global cybersecurity leader, where he revamped the marketing, communications and government relations functions. He also served as PNC Financial Services Group’s Chief Communications Officer where he modernized the function and led internal and external communications, responsible business, social media strategies, sponsorships and employee recognition. He also led public relations and communications for the credit card business at JPMorgan Chase and served as the Head of Global Communications for Nortel.
As a consultant, he helped launch and lead the global Data Security & Privacy Group at Edelman. He served as the general manager of Edelman’s Dallas, Texas and Shanghai, China offices and led the firm’s global Financial Comms & Special Circumstances and Crisis & Risk practices. He also served as the North American head of MSL Group’s Issues & Crisis Management Practice. David has appeared on CNN, ABC, PBS and several other broadcast outlets. He has been published in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek and Forbes.com. His work has earned several awards, including being named to PRWeek’s Global Power Book and 40 Under 40, as well as earning their inaugural Corporate Public Relations Team of the Year award. In particular, Law360 highlighted his work in navigating the complex life sciences industry and key partnership negotiations between biotechnology and drug companies.
In addition, Tony sustains an active pro bono practice, serving as counsel to nonprofit organizations such as Aequitas, APAI Vote, Chefs Stopping Asian American Hate, Rebuilding Together Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Film Society, and the Harvard Asian American Alumni Alliance. Lowell's practice centers on drafting and negotiating a wide range of documents related to renewable energy project development, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), virtual PPAs, energy storage service agreements, tolling agreements, and engineering, procurement, and construction contracts. He also supports clients with interconnection, transmission, and regulatory matters. Leveraging his regulatory and appellate expertise, Lowell delivers comprehensive, forward-thinking advice to help clients anticipate and overcome obstacles.
Before joining Orrick, Lowell served as a junior partner at a boutique law firm where he led the representation of developers of solar, wind, hydroelectric, generation-plus-storage, and biomass projects. His work involved negotiating offtake agreements, navigating complex regulatory environments before state utility commissions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and engaging in extensive appellate practice related to renewable energy project development under the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act.
Prior to practicing law, he served as a climate policy analyst for an international non-governmental organization in Washington, D.C., where he advanced U.S. climate policy on refrigerants and contributed to amending the Montreal Protocol to phase-out hydrofluorocarbon super greenhouse gases.

In public finance matters, Cathleen has served as bond counsel and special tax counsel for a variety of transactions, including health care facilities, multifamily housing, airport, ports, transit authorities, non-profit organizations, public utilities, hospitality projects, as well as tobacco revenue securitizations. In addition to tax-exempt financings, Cathleen also represents clients in IRS audits and non-profit corporation tax matters.

He also possesses multiple years of experience litigating tech-based trade secret and patent infringement issues involving software programs, computer hardware, digital communication systems, and medical devices.
Prior to joining Orrick, David served as a law clerk for the Honorable Otis D. Wright, II in the Central District of California as well as for the Honorable Liam P. Hardy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Between federal clerkships, David worked at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in their IP litigation practice group where he engaged in all stages of litigation on behalf of various Fortune 50 companies.
In addition to his civilian career, David previously served as an Infantry Officer and continues to serve part-time as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Army National Guard.
David is also passionate about serving his larger community and has an active pro bono practice focusing on civil litigation, veteran assistance, and refugee legal aid.
