Jake focuses on international commercial litigation, arbitration and investigations, principally in the financial and professional services sectors.

Jake regularly acts for banks and other financial institutions and professional services firms in connection with cross-border litigation, arbitration, investigations and regulatory enforcement matters.

    • Acting for a Big Four accountancy firm, the former external auditors of a multinational company which collapsed in one of the largest insolvencies in UK history, in relation to high profile litigation before the High Court as well as a number of investigations brought by regulators, principally the Financial Reporting Council.
    • Representing a global commodities trader in a successful claim in a London-seated LCIA arbitration against a Russian bank for unpaid amounts due under complex structured trade finance arrangements.
    • Defending a securities trader against claims in the English High Court involving disputed repo agreements.
    • Advising global financial institutions on finance disputes, IT disputes and internal investigations.
    • Advising various clients in relation to contentious structured trade finance, commodities and shipping matters.
    • Advising on contentious aspects of UK and international insolvencies, including claims against former directors and third parties, and disputes concerning proposed schemes of arrangement.
