February.02.2022

  • Julia Balas joins Orrick as a partner focused on project development and M&A in wind, solar and other renewables projects.
  • The firm is further investing in this platform as clients execute energy transition strategies in response to government policy making and investor focus on ESG.
  • Julia joins Orrick in Los Angeles from Morrison & Foerster.
  • Orrick also announced this week the addition of Teresa Hill, a globally recognized advisor on sell-side PPAs and helping public and private tech companies achieve ESG objectives.

Julia brings a diverse renewables skillset, including construction, equipment & procurement, project M&A, and build-transfer agreements (BTA) experience. She joins an Orrick team that is rated Band 1 by Chambers Global for 2021 and ranked #3 for renewables globally in 2021 (Inframation).

“Julia adds top quality bench strength in an area where we are seeing unprecedented demand, including from traditional developers and strategic and financial investors, but more and more from O&G majors and electric utilities, for M&A, BTA and EPC investment,” said Dahl Thompson, global leader of Orrick’s Energy & Infrastructure practice.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Orrick’s team and to be practicing alongside lawyers who are on the cutting edge of energy transition at this incredibly exciting and innovative time in the global market,” Julia said.
