Orrick’s Jean-Paule Castagno Named One of GIR’s Top 100 Women in Investigations

May.19.2021

Congratulations to Orrick’s Jean-Paule Castagno on her selection to Global Investigations Review’s (GIR) Top 100 Women in Investigations for 2021. This series “shines a spotlight on the wide variety of outstanding female practitioners in the field.”

The GIR profile of Jean-Paule [subscription required] highlights her career accomplishments in investigations and her ability to find creative solutions, including overcoming challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. She recently conducted an internal investigation remotely for a pharmaceutical company that resulted in a full dismissal of the case. Jean-Paule also obtained full acquittals for ratings agency S&P and five of its managers on market manipulation charges relating to historic downgrades of Italy’s sovereign debt.

According to Jean-Paule, “The most fulfilling part of my job is the moment, after a particularly lengthy investigation, in which I find evidence to be used in a proceeding that supports my client’s position. An equally fulfilling part of my job is trying to think outside the box when it comes to finding a solution to a particular problem that my client is facing; sometimes through the implementation of new technology, sometimes by drawing inspiration from the environment I work in and the talented people in my team.”
