Our Los Angeles Real Estate team advised Westbrook Partners on an acquisition of a parcel of the historic Pier 70 in San Francisco, California, as part of a redevelopment project. Pier 70 is a 69-acre property owned by the Port of San Francisco. As home to both Union Iron Works and Bethlehem Steel, Pier 70 has been a source for major ship repair operations since the Spanish American War. Currently, Pier 70 is a mix of vacant land and deteriorating buildings that restrict public activity and waterfront access behind fences. Pier 70 will be redeveloped into a mix of office, residential, retail, artist studios, light-industrial, open space, and waterfront parks. The project will also include the rehabilitation of significant historical buildings. Westbrook intends to help revitalize a portion of the Pier 70 property by constructing a mixed-use development that will include for sale residential units and commercial space, as well as a street-front plaza that will serve as a gateway into the Pier 70 project. The phased project will take more than a decade to complete, and the local community’s vision and culture is shaping every aspect of the site design and planning.
