Orrick Honored by Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley with 2015 Hope Award for Diversity

October.19.2015

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley (APABA-SV) has honored Orrick with its 2015 Hope Award for Diversity. This award is given annually to corporate legal departments and law firms that exhibit an exceptional commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, both in the workplace and in the greater legal community.

The APABA-SV selection committee noted that it was “very impressed” with Orrick’s proven commitment to diversity and inclusion, especially in regards to the initiatives the firm has implemented. These include Orrick’s industry-leading “22 & 9” parental leave policy, which provides for 22 weeks of paid parental leave and up to nine months total leave, as well as the Bay Area Diversity Career Fair, which was founded by Orrick in 2005 to give law firms and government legal departments in the San Francisco Bay Area the opportunity to meet highly qualified, diverse, second-year law students, and the firm’s In-House Counsel Academy, which pairs diverse in-house counsel and Orrick practitioners for a discussion of issues that every in-house counsel has or will face, and offers an opportunity for learning and networking for seasoned and unseasoned in-house counsel alike.

APABA-SV's mission is to foster professional development, advocacy and community involvement for Silicon Valley's Asian Pacific American legal community, and to promote justice and equality for all. Orrick proudly shares in the mission of APABA-SV and applauds the many contributions made by this organization.
