The Bar Association of San Francisco's Volunteer Legal Services Program (VLSP) recently recognized several Orrick lawyers for their exceptional pro bono work at its annual volunteer appreciation event.

Orrick's honorees included:

  • San Francisco senior litigation associate Frank Scaduto, for his full-scope representation of clients in unlawful detainer cases, seeking to prevent their eviction.
  • Former San Francisco intellectual property partner Matt Hult, Silicon Valley managing intellectual property associate Kristin Cornuelle and Silicon Valley intellectual property associate Bahar Metanat, for their work in representing homeless or near homeless clients as part of a clinical program that Orrick founded and has sponsored for many years, allowing clients to remove warrants that are barriers to housing and other public benefits.
  • San Francisco securities litigation and regulatory enforcement associate Matt Tolve and San Francisco managing litigation associate Sarah Marriott, for their participation in the housing settlement conference project, pursuant to which they seek to broker settlements for clients who are on the verge of homelessness and/or eviction.
  • San Francisco public finance partner Bob Feyer, for his significant number of representations of low-income clients seeking guardianship over children whose parents no longer care for them.

More than 200 people were in attendance at the event, which was held at the Green Room of the War Memorial and Performing Arts Center in San Francisco. Judge Edward Chen, United States District Court; Presiding Judge Katherine Feinstein, San Francisco Superior Court; Supervising Judge Patrick Mahoney, Unified Family Court of the San Francisco Superior Court; Judge Ronald Quidachay, San Francisco Superior Court; and BASF President Kelly Dermody were on hand to pass out the awards.
