  • Recognizing a string of outstanding results in California courtrooms, Daily Journal has named Rich Jacobsen a Leading Commercial Litigator of 2026.
  • Daily Journal highlights the $282 million judgment that Rich and his team secured for UBS fund Clover Private Credit against fintech entrepreneur Joseph Sanberg, after the collapse of Sanberg’s climate fintech Aspiration and his default on $250 million worth of loans. This nine-figure result came after years of hard-fought litigation, including obtaining an anti-suit injunction at the outset of the case – within 24 hours of Sanberg filing suit in California in an attempt to invalidate the loans. Rich’s team uncovered “stunning fraud” during the course of the litigation, which later resulted in Sanberg and his Aspiration co-board member Ibrahim AlHusseini pleading guilty to federal criminal charges. The case also revealed an explosive NBA salary-cap scandal, leading sportswriter Pablo Torre to dramatically reenact Rich’s deposition of Sanberg on his Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast.
  • Also featured is Rich’s success obtaining a series of early dismissals for PayPal in the high-profile consumer class actions targeting the Honey online shopping browser extension, including a consolidated action of more than 25 cases in the Northern District of California.
  • Rich, who serves as Orrick’s Lead Partner for Litigation and a member of the firm’s Board, credits his success to his team and the Orrick litigation platform he has helped build since 2006: "It's my home. I love to practice here. It's a fun career.”
