The Cyrus R. Vance Center and Orrick, together with ǼLEX, LAT Legal Services, and Oraro & Company Advocates, recently hosted a second set of professional training workshops, the first one covering how to structure renewable energy projects under the IPP (Independent Power Producer) Model and the second discussing Energy Sector Project Agreements in Successful Renewable Energy Projects.
Both workshops featured Paul Zarnowiecki from Orrick and local counsel from Ethiopia, Kenya, and Nigeria.
The IPP training explored the various considerations and factors that play a role in African renewable energy transactions and specific issues to consider unique to the region. The training on Energy Sector Agreements explored the considerations and factors needed for successful renewable energy projects in Africa and how market participants structure and negotiate these agreements.
These engaging sessions are part of the Vance Center’s Power Africa Legal Fellows Program. Attendees included participants from government and private practice across several African regions.
