Joe Scheu, an associate in Orrick’s Hong Kong office, is a member of the M&A and Private Equity Group.

Joe advises corporations, private equity firms and financial institutions on a broad range of corporate transactions, including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investments, joint ventures and privatizations.

He also has experience advising on debt capital markets, structured finance and general corporate and commercial matters.

Prior to joining Orrick, Joe worked at another international law firm in Hong Kong and also spent six months on secondment to the Equity Derivatives Group (Legal) at J.P. Morgan in Hong Kong.

    • Doki Technologies, a Hong Kong-based start-up specializing in developing technology-enabled wearable devices for children, in connection with various corporate matters.
    • Hong Kong branch of a major PRC insurance company in its proposed US$100 million Series F investment into a PRC data analytics company.
    • A consortium led by Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings in its US$5.6 billion acquisition of ASX-listed energy company DUET Group.
    • Haitong Securities in the US$2 billion restructuring of a significant SSE-listed company ownership portfolio.
    • UPS in the establishment of a joint venture with SF Express to develop and provide international delivery services from Mainland China to the US.
    • TVS, an Indian conglomerate, in its acquisition of Singapore-based logistics company Pan Asia Logistics.
    • The Government of Tonga in the partial privatization of a state-owned enterprise that operates a submarine cable system.
    • JP Morgan in the issuance of various investment products including derivative warrants, callable bull/bear contracts, OTC trades and structured notes issued under EMTN programmes.
    • European sovereign entity in the potential RMB3 billion issuance of RMB-denominated “Panda bonds” in the China Interbank Bond Market.
