José A. Rico, a senior associate based in Orrick’s Santa Monica office, partners with founders and investors to guide technology companies through every stage of growth, from formation to financings and complex cross-border deals.
José counsels high-growth companies on corporate governance, venture financings, and strategic transactions. He regularly advises on cross-border matters, with particular depth in Latin America, and works across industries including consumer internet, software, fintech, blockchain, edtech and healthtech.
In addition to representing companies, José advises leading venture capital firms and other investors on their investments in early and high-growth businesses. His work emphasizes clear, business-focused solutions to help clients move quickly and effectively.
Prior to joining Orrick, José practiced with Gunderson Dettmer and Morgan Lewis, where he gained significant experience in venture capital and complex corporate transactions. Jose earned both his J.D. and bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis.
