Stephen P. Hall is a trial lawyer and former Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who applies a business-minded approach to complex business disputes.

Using his experience leading an accounting department within one of the largest private companies, Stephen combines his financial and legal knowledge with his innate ability to quickly assess complex business transactions to develop reasoned legal strategies that advance his clients' business objectives and keeps his clients focused on their ultimate goal.

In addition, Stephen’s experience includes engagements as counsel and lead counsel in high-value commercial disputes, class actions, complex fraud schemes, false claims defense, unfair and deceptive business practices, and executive-level employment matters for clients in life sciences, financial services, insurance, education, retail and transportation industries. He has particular knowledge and experience in assisting clients with internal investigations and analyses related to government enforcement actions, discrimination claims, and regulatory compliance matters.

Throughout his legal career, Stephen has been actively involved in and served as a leader in the various bar associations.  Most notably, he is currently serving as President-Elect of the Boston Bar Foundation and has previously served as President of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, a state-wide bar association focused on advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal industry.

In addition, Stephen devotes his time to pro bono affairs, including assisting the Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) and the Innocence Project with criminal appeals involving factual innocence.

    • Member of trial team defending NCAA in concussion/CTE cases across the United States.
    • Represented pharmacy in several matters involving violations of False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute resulting in favorable settlements.
    • Lead counsel for pharmaceutical companies in defense of claims of off-label marketing schemes resulting in favorable settlement
    • Successfully defended medical service corporation against collateral breach of contract claims in state false claims suit against medical provider resulting in early disposition and successfully defended appeal of early disposition before appellate court.
    • Successfully obtained summary judgment for financial services institution in breach of contract dispute and successfully defended appeal of summary judgment before appellate court.
    • Lead trial counsel for accounting professional organization in international arbitration against certification testing service provider in relation to calculation of contract compensation resulting in favorable award.
    • Represented financial services organization in relation to several class actions involving alleged violations of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, successfully defeating class certifications and compelling arbitration.
    • Represented university and coaches against athlete claims of hazing, resulting in favorable settlement.
