James advises clients on a broad range of corporate matters, with a particular focus on M&A, private equity and venture capital.

James has experience working on cross-board and domestic transactions including acquisitions, disposals and investments, primarily in the technology sector. He also advises companies and investors on venture capital and growth equity transactions, covering early-stage financings, institutional funding rounds, bridge financings and secondary transactions.

    • Advised UK AI chip designer Graphcore on its sale to Softbank Group Corp.
    • Advised Egress Software Technologies, a leader in cloud email security, on its sale to KnowBe4 (backed by Vista Equity Partners).
    • Advised 1Password, a leader in identity security, on its acquisition of Trelica, a Cambridge based provider of SaaS access management.
    • Advised ScreenCloud, the digital signage provider, on its investment from Tenzing Private Equity.
    • Advised Mimica, the process intelligence company, on its $26 million Series B funding round led by Paladin.
    • Advised Vitruvian Partners on its minority investment in and group reorganisation of the Twinkl group, an edutech group.
    • Advised the shareholders of Extrinsica on the sale of the company to iomart Group.
    • Advised the shareholders of Qudini, a retail choreography software company, on the company’s sale to Verint, a self-service solutions software provider for digital engagement.
    • Advised the shareholders of Shipamax, an AI-powered data entry software provider for the shipping & logistics industry, on the sale of the company to Wisetech.
    • Advised an international manufacturer on its acquisition of a specialist manufacturer and distributor of bituminous roofing products.
    • Advised a tech company on a cross-border sale of its content streaming business as a going concern.
    • Advised on multiple venture capital financing rounds for companies and investors.
