Amelie focuses on counseling in the area of Data Privacy and IP/IT. She is involved in GDPR readiness  and general Data Privacy compliance and works on various aspects of trademark and competition law. 

Ever since her studies, Amelie has been fascinated by Data Privacy and Intellectual Property Rights. Now that she has joined Orrick, Amelie focuses on helping clients to face the challenges of Data Privacy and turn those challenges into opportunities. Advising on and finding answers to the European General Data Protection Regulation is part of Amelie's daily tasks. Whether it is the assessment of a specific online application, advice on data protection safeguards or drafting a privacy policy or a data processing agreements, Amelie is up to date with the newest developments and puts her knowledge into practice for our clients. 

Amelie regularly advises on various aspects of IP and IT rights. She joined Orrick in 2017 after finishing her legal training in Berlin and New York.

    • GDPR Compliance Programs: Advising various multinational companies on GDPR and general Data Privacy compliance, advising on international data transfers, drafting data sharing agreements and privacy policies, supporting with data processing records, analysing data processing activities, setting up compliance structure and privacy-by-design programs, assisting with Privacy Impact Assessments, aligning electronic marketing with Data Privacy requirements.

    • Connected Cars: Advising global tech companies and car manufacturers on data privacy implications with Connected Cars and on international data transfers.

    • Data Privacy Agreements: Advising multinational tech companies on tailored data processing and data transfer agreement, advising on intra-group data privacy agreements.

    • Data Privacy and E-Commerce: Advising several international companies on data privacy and e-commerce law matters, inter alia on using personal data for direct marketing, and collecting and using personal data in the online environment.

    • Advising Tech Start-ups on Data Privacy: Advising start-ups from the U.S. and Germany on IT and data privacy matters, such as on compliance of products and services with GDPR, consumer privacy and data protection principles. This involves drafting privacy policies, terms and conditions and vendor contracts, as well as evaluating new technologies and businesses on privacy compliance and consumer protection concepts.

    • Cybersecurity and Data Breach Incident Plans: Counseling major computer software companies on Cybersecurity and incident plans.


    Information Technology

    • IT Licensing: Advising a leading U.S. software manufacturer on its EU and German software licensing terms & conditions and regularly conducting negotiations with its customers.

    • IT Licensing: Advising a U.S. cloud software provider on its German licensing terms & conditions.


    Unfair Trade and IP

    • Unfair Trade Practices Litigation: Representing several software and e-commerce companies in unfair competition litigation, e.g. regarding unfair advertising and breach of consumer protection regulations.

    • Trademark Prosecution and Litigation: Advising various small to large national and international companies on trademark prosecution and litigation.
