Rupali Singhal

Senior Associate

San Francisco

A member of Orrick's Supreme Court & Appeals practice, Rupali pairs her high-stakes litigation experience with a technical background to develop winning appellate strategies from the ground up.

Rupali helps clients navigate appeals involving complex technical issues, with a particular focus on patent appeals. Her practice draws upon her years as an IP and trial-level litigator, during which she successfully litigated a broad range of matters involving patent, copyright, trade secret law as well as constitutional, contract, securities, criminal and administrative law issues.

Rupali's experience at the trial level is central to her appellate approach, allowing her to deconstruct technical and legal concepts into precise, rigorous arguments needed for appellate success. She has litigated cases concerning a wide variety of technical subject matter ranging from semiconductors, materials-science, software, telecommunications, to biologics and medical devices. Rupali also relies on her experience on the other side of the bench, having clerked for Judge Raymond C. Clevenger, III, of the Federal Circuit and Judge Edward G. Smith of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

  • Rupali earned her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as an articles editor for the law review.
