David advises on a broad range of contentious matters, often with a multi-jurisdictional focus, including English High Court litigation, international arbitration, internal investigations and contentious regulatory matters.

David frequently acts for clients in the private equity, professional services, financial services, aviation, oil and gas, technology and energy sectors in connection with disputes in the English courts and abroad, arbitration and regulatory investigations.

David has also represented companies and firms in regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions including those brought by the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) and the Insolvency Service.

Prior to moving to Orrick, David held senior in-house legal roles in both the technology and non-profit sectors, as well as completing a secondment in the legal department of a leading global private equity firm.

    • Acting for Optimares S.p.A. in its English Commercial Court claim against Qatar Airways Q.C.S.C.
    • Advising a Swiss commodity trading bank in an LCIA arbitration against a Russian counterparty arising from an aborted structured finance deal
    • Acting for major accounting firms in enforcement actions by the FRC.
    • Advising Petroserv Marine Inc in its defence of a claim by Labrador Marine Corp in relation to a promissory note following a corporate restructuring
    • Advising 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) on its $6.5 billion dispute with IPIC and Aabar
    • Acting for BlackRock Global Allocation Fund, Inc. in its High Court claim concerning the validity of a purchase undertaking entered into by Dana Gas PJSC
    • Advising a leading global private equity house in an ad hoc arbitration under UNCITRAL rules concerning an investment in communication networks in Africa
    • Advising an international human rights and environmental NGO on its defence of defamation proceedings across multiple jurisdictions
    • Advising on internal bribery and corruption investigations at a multinational media company
