Kiarash Shamardani is a Science Advisor in Orrick's Intellectual Property Group, specializing in life sciences patent litigation.
Dr. Shamardani leverages his scientific training to support clients in complex intellectual property matters across the life sciences sector. Dr. Shamardani brings extensive technical expertise in immunology, neuroscience, and oncology, with experience in both small molecules and biologics. He earned his PhD in Cancer Biology from Stanford University School of Medicine and his BA in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
Prior to joining Orrick, Dr. Shamardani conducted research in the Monje lab at Stanford University where he studied neuron-glioma interactions at the circuit level to discern how patterns of activity within this network influence the behavior of the cancer as a whole. Before attending Stanford, Dr. Shamardani spent two years as a research associate studying the neural basis of perception in the Adesnik lab at UC Berkeley.
