Cloudbreak Energy Partners (Cloudbreak) announced a strategic investment from Germany-based GETEC Energie Holding GmbH (GETEC) for Cloudbreak’s independent power producer (IPP) transition, the development and construction of its 106 MWdc safe harbored solar assets portfolio, and its pipeline of solar and storage assets.

Orrick advised Cloudbreak on the transaction.

THE COMPANIES

Cloudbreak is a U.S. solar and storage IPP. It is one of the leading commercial and community solar and storage developers in the Mountain West of the United States.

GETEC is an international energy services group headquartered in Hannover, Germany that provides the full spectrum of energy services and related system solutions, including renewable energy development and operation, energy networks and smart infrastructure.

THE IMPACT

The investment reflects GETEC’s first move into the U.S. market, building on a successful track record of owning and operating renewable energy assets across Europe.

GETEC’s investment will fund Cloudbreak's capital expenditures, project development costs and general growth initiatives across a national portfolio of distributed and utility-scale solar and storage projects.

The combination of GETEC’s depth of experience in distributed energy and Cloudbreak’s deep expertise in solar and storage development make this a strong strategic partnership at a time when U.S. power demands are rising at an unprecedented rate.

THE TEAM

The Orrick team is led by Kristin Seeger and includes Peter Elias, Jason D. Flaherty and Molly Jergenson.
