Orrick Continues Growth of New York Tech Practice with Josh Beser

• Josh Beser joins Orrick’s Technology Companies Group as a corporate partner in New York.
• Most recently a partner at Wilson Sonsini, he brings a decade-plus of in-house leadership experience at tech, life sciences and consumer brand companies. 
• Josh brings a high-growth operator’s perspective to working with founders and company leadership at venture-backed companies as they scale, often serving as the company’s primary outside counsel from early-stage financing through exit.
• As general counsel and corporate secretary at consumer travel brand Away, he helped the company raise $150 million over several rounds, achieving a $1.4 billion valuation, building and leading legal and several business functions while expanding the company’s global brick-and-mortar retail presence. He also served in legal and business leadership roles as vice president and general counsel at consumer technology company Canary and assistant general counsel at publicly traded Swiss life sciences company Lonza.
• He is a leader in the startup ecosystem in New York, as a founding member of TechGC in New York City, and since 2012, as a mentor to founders and growth-stage general counsels in collaboration with First Round Capital and Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator.
• Josh follows the recent east coast hires of corporate partners David Sharrow and Jake Ornstein, both from Gunderson.
