Paul Klimos, a Senior Associate in Orrick’s Corporate practice, has been appointed to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Future Council on the Future of Technology Policy.

WEF’s Global Future Councils constitute the world’s premier knowledge network dedicated to promoting innovative thinking. By invitation only, the network brings together the world’s foremost thought leaders from academia, business, government, and civil society.

The Global Future Council on the Future of Technology Policy will focus on fostering responsible technology governance and regulation, advancing digital transformation, and promoting tech-enabled solutions to serve people and the planet.

Klimos is also a member of WEF’s network of experts on each of geopolitics, justice, and the future of financial and monetary systems. He was recognized by WEF as a "Global Shaper" and elected Curator of the forum’s Global Shapers Community in Silicon Valley.

In his legal practice, Klimos helps founders navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship and emerging technologies, and investors evaluate, structure and manage their investments.

Paul Klimos Senior Associate

Silicon Valley Office; New York Office

Paul is a lawyer and lecturer in law with a global perspective forged through extensive international experience. He heads the MENA strategy of the firm’s Technology Companies Group, and is a member of its Silicon Valley Europe Desk.

In his legal practice, Paul helps founders navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship and emerging technologies, and investors evaluate, structure, and manage various types of investments. He represents emerging growth companies at all levels of development and across jurisdictions, as well as investors in the different forms and stages of their investments. He is admitted to practice in California, New York and Lebanon.

Earlier in his career, Paul worked at the legal and compliance department of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and as legal counsel at the Central Bank of Lebanon where, alongside his core functions, he co-founded a legal research and intelligence unit designed to advise on the governance of fintech and the drafting of laws and regulations. He also practiced at international financial institutions and law firms in North America, Central America and MENA.

Paul sits on the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council, an invitation-only community dedicated to providing thought leadership, and is a member of the forum's network of experts on each of geopolitics, justice, and the future of financial and monetary systems. He was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a "Global Shaper" and elected Curator of its Global Shapers Community in Silicon Valley.

He is an instructor at each of the Harvard Law Entrepreneurship Project and the UC Hastings Legal Garage. He acts as a mentor to various start-up accelerators and innovation centers, and is a juror for Mentor Arabia's Social Entrepreneurship Award and Columbia University’s Venture Community Demo Day.

His published works include "How RegTech tools can help alleviate the cost of regulatory uncertainty" (2022), "Regulatory Technology for the 21st Century" (2022), "The Distributed Ledger Technology: A Potential Revamp for Financial Markets?” (2018) and “The Legal Regime of the Collateral on Financial Markets” (2013).
