November.20.2020

Infracapital portfolio company Fibrus has been awarded the Project Stratum broadband contract by the Northern Irish Government. The project aims to bring broadband services to over 75,000 homes across rural areas of Northern Ireland.

Orrick advised Infracapital, the infrastructure arm of M&G Plc – one of Europe's leading investment companies, on the contract, which represents a public sector investment of £165 million, alongside a substantial investment by Fibrus in network build costs.

Project Stratum is part of a European-wide program of rural broadband public sector investment and represents the fourth fibre broadband transaction that Orrick has led for Infracapital, having successfully completed transactions in Poland, the Isle of Wight and now Northern Ireland.

The Orrick team was led by John Deacon and Jinal Shah and includes Rebecca Grevitt, Alice Edwards, Charles Sheldon, Sejal Patel, Dominic O’Brien, Richard Hunt, Nicola Whiteley, Mandy Perry, Jonathan Rosen, Bridget Winters, Vivienne Holyoake, Natasha Ahmed and Jacqui Hatfield.
