Financial Times Highlights Orrick Partner Yoshihiro Takatori for Expanding International Arbitration in Japan

Financial Times has featured Orrick partner Yoshihiro Takatori’s pioneering effort establishing international arbitration centers in Japan, calling him “arguably Japan’s leading evangelist for alternative dispute resolution.”

In this article, FT describes Yoshi’s career in cross-border dispute resolution and his leadership in Japan’s development as an international arbitration center in Asia, with hopes of competing with other global mediation hubs in Asia such as Singapore and Hong Kong. As a result of Yoshi’s efforts, Japan opened its first International Dispute Resolution Center in Osaka last year, and another is expected to open soon in Tokyo.

“It’s complicated and it’s tough but it’s fun,” Yoshi told FT.

Earlier this year, FT named Yoshi, head of Orrick’s Japan practice, one of its top 10 most innovative lawyers in Asia, citing his work establishing Japan’s new international arbitration centers.
