Orrick announced today that David Schwartz has joined the firm as a partner in New York. David brings extensive experience in corporate and securities law, with a primary focus on M&A transactions for technology and life sciences companies. He is the 11th partner to join Orrick’s M&A practice in the past two years, a practice that ranked #13 for global M&A volume last year (Mergermarket).
David advises clients in complex M&A transactions – both private and public deals – including hostile and negotiated transactions, special committee representations and affiliated transactions, and corporate defense advice and proxy contests. His experience includes domestic and cross-border transactions and buy-side and sell-side representations. He also counsels clients on corporate governance, securities law and compliance obligations.
“Orrick has built a tremendous global corporate platform, and I am excited to help grow the practice in New York and globally,” said David. “The firm’s focus on the technology, energy & infrastructure and finance sectors, its commitment to building value-added global client relationships, and its innovative approach to service delivery are a perfect match for the way I approach my practice.”
Clients for which David has acted include Chiltern, Innogenix, Epic Pharma, Merck, Cipla Limited, Maersk/APM, Seacor Holdings, Comverse Technology and EMC Corp. He joins Orrick from Hughes Hubbard & Reed.
Earlier this year, Orrick announced the additions to our global corporate team of Paul Doris, a private equity lawyer focused on the energy & infrastructure market, and Ali Ramadan, a rising star in the European venture capital space, both in London; and Ellen Ehrenpreis, a tech companies advisor in Silicon Valley. In addition, the firm added East Coast securities litigation and white collar boutique Morvillo LLP, and a 20-lawyer public finance team from Andrews Kurth Kenyon in Houston and Austin.
