March.13.2018

We are pleased to announce that Ellen Ehrenpreis has joined Orrick’s Technology Companies Group, resident in our Silicon Valley office. Ellen is the 12th partner we have added to our global Technology Companies team since 2016, including new talent in the Bay Area, Santa Monica, New York, London and Washington, D.C.

“Ellen will be a terrific counselor to our tech company clients. She brings a deep understanding of what it takes for founders to succeed and a valuable network of connections in the VC and startup community,” said John Bautista, a partner in Orrick’s Technology Companies Group.

“It is an exciting time in the growth of our tech practice globally, and we’re especially thrilled to add another woman leader to our team,” added Amanda Galton, Co-Leader of Orrick’s global Technology Companies Group with Stephen Venuto.

Ellen has more than twenty years of experience counseling companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500 multinationals, as well as executives, investors and advisors involved in the tech ecosystem. She brings a holistic commercial perspective to her work, advising on financings, M&A, corporate and securities matters, commercial transactions, intellectual property and litigation strategy. Ellen joins the firm from Edgewood Law Partners, a boutique firm that she co-founded, and previously was a partner with Wilson Sonsini.

“Orrick’s deep commitment to tech, the outstanding quality of the Technology Companies team and the firm’s dedication to a culture of diversity and collaboration were pivotal in my decision to join the firm.  I am excited to join forces with my new partners, including John, Amanda, Stephen Venuto, Don Keller and the rest of the team, to help our clients thrive and to continue to cement Orrick’s place as the go-to firm for technology company needs around the world,” said Ellen.

In 2017, Orrick advised on more than 650 VC financings valued at over $12.4 billion for companies based in 30 countries. The firm was the third most active law firm globally in the venture space the second half of 2017 and the #1 firm in Europe based on deal volume (Pitchbook). The firm currently advises more than 1,800+ technology companies, including 40% of Forbes’ largest public tech companies and 20% of the $1B+ U.S. "unicorns", and represents one-third of the most active early stage VCs.
