Orrick has been named to The National Law Journal’s Appellate Hot List for the sixth time, the latest recognition for our fast-growing Supreme Court and Appellate practice. The list honors 20 “elite” law firms that “posted hard-fought wins at the U.S. Supreme Court or in the federal circuit courts.”
The NLJ feature included a Q&A with Josh Rosenkranz, head of the Orrick team, and highlighted his major win earlier this year in the U.S. Supreme Court for Los Angeles County and two LA sheriff’s deputies in a precedent-setting case involving the standard in excessive force litigation.
In the interview, Josh discussed the firm’s approach to its appellate success over the past year. He noted that the group’s six first-chair appellate partners have developed deep relationships that lead to repeat engagements for clients including Apple, Credit Suisse and Oracle. And he stressed that the firm is building for the future with associates who have argued or will argue 10 different appeals this year.
Josh also offered advice to younger lawyers breaking into appellate practice, including: “Take risks. Challenge yourself to take on tasks you aren’t confident you can achieve.” The NLJ story can be read here [subscription required].
This honor follows Josh's recent recognition as a “Distinguished Leader” by the New York Law Journal.
