Orrick Mourns the Loss of Longtime Partner, the Honorable Steven A. Brick

June.14.2017

The Orrick community mourns the passing of Steve Brick, a longtime Orrick partner and distinguished member of the California legal community.

Steve joined Orrick’s San Francisco team in 1973. For the next 27 years, he represented the nation's leading companies in securities and employment class actions, antitrust and IP disputes, and a wide range of other complex commercial trials and appeals. Steve also served as a member of Orrick's Executive Committee and a leader of our mentoring and diversity programs.

In 2001, Steve left the firm to pursue a judicial career, becoming a Judge with the Superior Court of Alameda County. He later served as Justice Pro Tem, California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District. In 2015, he became a JAMS arbitrator. Among his many contributions to the California legal community, Steve served as president of the Bar Association of San Francisco, executive committee member for the Alameda County Superior Court, a member of the board of governors of the Northern California Association of Business Trial Lawyers, advisor to the American Law Institute and in numerous other roles.

Over the course of Steve’s career, he earned a reputation for diligence, wisdom and integrity of the highest order. He was also known for his kindness. Many Orrick partners count him as a mentor and friend. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Ann, his two beloved daughters and his family.
