Orrick Infrastructure Transaction Wins European Deal of the Year from IJGlobal

April.03.2017

Orrick served as counsel on a deal that was honored by IJGlobal as their European Onshore Wind Deal of the Year. Winners were recognized at the publication’s European awards banquet in London on March 29.

Orrick’s corporate and E&I teams in London advised BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited (Renewable Power Group) in the €40 million acquisition and €310 million debt financing of Tellenes Vindpark AS. The Tellenes project, once fully operational, will be the largest wind farm in Norway, with an expected annual production of more than 500 GWh. The deal also features a Power Purchase Agreement with Google, who will use the wind farm’s clean energy production to cool their European data centers. Acquisition of the project company was led by Anthony Riley and negotiation of the project agreements was led by John Deacon. The Google PPA was negotiated by Elisabeth Blunsdon.

The IJGlobal award is the latest for Orrick’s Project Finance team, which was recently named a Law360 Practice Group of the Year for the fourth time and an Inspiratia top ten legal adviser for 2016.
