Orrick Grows Paris M&A and Private Equity Team


Orrick Rambaud Martel announced today that leading French M&A and private equity advisor Guillaume Kessler has joined the firm as a partner, resident in Paris. Guillaume joins Orrick from Olswang where he served as Managing Partner of the Paris office and head of the Paris Corporate Group.

Guillaume advises on corporate finance transactions, including public and private domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, take privates, private equity, restructurings and international joint ventures. He acts for French and international clients, including public and private companies, private equity houses and investment banks across a wide range of sectors, including tech, e-commerce, media and retail. Most recently, Guillaume advised Arjowiggins on the sale of Arjowiggins Healthcare to Meeschaert Private Equity and counseled Alpha in the sale of its portfolio company MK Direct Group (Françoise Saget / Linvosges) to Eurazeo PME.

Highly ranked by Legal 500, Décideurs and Option Droit & Affaires for his private equity work, Guillaume has previously practiced with Freshfields and Clifford Chance.

Guillaume’s arrival continues the growth of Orrick’s 100-lawyer Paris office which in 2016 added a team of partners from Freshfields, including Hervé Touraine, one of the preeminent structured finance practitioners in Paris; Emmanuel Ringeval, an authority on leveraged lending and debt restructuring; Emmanuel Bénard, a sought-after advisor to international companies on complex French employment law issues; Patrick Tardivy, a rising star in M&A and private equity; and Olivier Bernard, a rising star in structured finance and debt capital markets, as well as Simon Ratledge, a leading practitioner focused on project finance in emerging countries and in Africa, from Simmons & Simmons and leading tech companies lawyer Olivier Edwards from Gide Loyrette Nouel.

Most recently, Orrick announced the arrivals of Christoph Brenner in the firm’s M&A and private equity practice in Munich and Ylan Steiner in its tech companies practice in London, both from King & Wood Mallesons.
