Congratulations to Orrick energy and infrastructure partner Dan Mathews on his selection to Law360's list of Transportation MVPs. Dan is one of only five lawyers selected for this recognition.

In its profile article of Dan, Law360 noted that Dan "earned his stripes by working on many of the nation’s major infrastructure projects in the past couple decades, allowing him to represent clients on some of the largest and most complex public-private partnership deals." These matters include the $2.2 billion Purple Line light rail transit project - the second transit PPP ever to close in the U.S. and the first rail PPP for Maryland, the new Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport and the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Station Train Hall being built in the old Farley post office near Penn Station. Dan noted that “these are large and complex transactions, and you’re involved in a sector in which you can see the tangible improvements to public benefit, which is gratifying.”

As for his legal successes, Dan told Law360 that it really requires a team effort. “In the infrastructure practice, including the transportation section, it requires the building of a team — it’s a team sport. Part of it is being a good lawyer, but another part is being a team manager.”
