December.09.2016

Orrick congratulates our partner Burt Haimes on being named a Chevalier (Knight) of France’s National Order of the Legion of Honor in a decree signed by French President Francois Hollande. French Ambassador to the United States Gérard Araud will present Burt with the Legion of Honor medal at a ceremony at the French Consulate in New York on December 9, 2016.

Established in 1802, the Legion of Honor is the highest French order for military and civil merits. A corporate partner who has dedicated his career to acting for leading French and U.S. companies on cross-border matters, Burt is being honored for his numerous contributions to the French-American community, which include collaborating with author and publisher Guy Sorman to revitalize France-Amérique, America’s largest French-language magazine, and launching the U.S. and Canadian chapters of French famine relief organization Action Contre La Faim. Burt is also honored for his contributions to the world of soccer, including his service on the FIFA Ethics Committee.
