LCLD Top Performer 2016Orrick has been ranked a 2016 Top Performer by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, underscoring the firm’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. The award recognizes corporations and law firms committing the most amount of time and energy to participating in LCLD’s programs to help create a more diverse legal profession.

LCLD is comprised of more than 250 chief legal officers and law firm managing partners, including Orrick CEO Mitch Zuklie. The organization’s mission is based on challenging the legal industry to prepare future generations of diverse talent for leadership positions. Orrick has been an active member in LCLD since 2010.

“We are honored to be part of the LCLD community and to be recognized for leadership,” noted Mitch. “Attracting, retaining and advancing diverse talent, particularly the next generation of diverse talent, is one of the key challenges for our profession. To address it meaningfully, we need a real partnership between law firms and in-house legal departments. LCLD plays an essential role driving that conversation – and inspiring meaningful action.”

Orrick has been repeatedly recognized for its diversity efforts. The firm was #2 Best Law Firm for Diversity in the most recent Vault rankings, and ranked #13 out of 220 firms in The American Lawyer’s 2016 diversity scorecard. Orrick sponsors several diversity programs, including the Rising Leaders Program, which matches firm leaders with high-performing women and minority partners to prepare these individuals for leadership positions in the firm. Orrick also launched the nation’s first ever Veterans’ Legal Career Fair in 2015 to help veterans and their spouses begin careers as civilians.
