Orrick Secures $793 Million Summary Judgment Ruling for Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation

Orrick secured a summary judgment ruling for Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation, a subsidiary of Dow Corning Corporation, in its lawsuit against Deutsche Solar GmbH, a subsidiary of SolarWorld AG. U.S. District Court Judge Thomas L. Ludington ruled that Deutsche Solar owed Hemlock approximately $793 million in damages after backing out of long-term supply contracts for the supply of polycrystalline silicon, which is the primary material used in the manufacture of solar panels.
