For the second consecutive year, Orrick has been recognized with a 2016 Gold Award from the San Francisco Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition for the firm’s commitment to health, flexibility, family friendly policies and equity in the workplace. Orrick has been recognized by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers’ as a top 50 Best Law Firms for Women for the past eight years and has received the Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum four years in a row.
“Orrick set the legal industry benchmark last year when we adopted the most generous parental leave policy in the industry, offering 22 weeks paid leave and up to nine months’ job protection in addition to enhanced support provided to returning parents,” said Siobhan Handley, Orrick’s Chief Talent Officer. “Recognizing there is more to do to advance women, we continue to look for creative and individualized solutions.”
The Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition is a collaboration of non-profit organizations, government agencies and employers created to improve the working conditions and health of new parents. The Coalition and its community partners developed the Healthy Mothers Workplace Award for Excellence in Maternal Health and Equity to recognize San Francisco employers with policies that support the wellbeing of their workers. Employers complete a self-assessment of their policies related to parental leave, lactation accommodations, and work-family balance. The assessment also asks employers whether their workplace has adopted certain policies identified by community leaders as integral for the health and equity of women in the workplace. The awards will be presented at a ceremony held on September 27th at the San Francisco Federal Building.
