Asian Legal Business has again ranked Orrick as a Tier 1 foreign firm for China patent matters in its latest Asia IP rankings.

Orrick’s China IP team has built its reputation in numerous IP-related high profile cases, resolving more than 100 sophisticated cross-border IP disputes in relation to patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights and industrial espionage in the past decade. The firm represents international companies, such as Microsoft, NVidia, TPK Touch Solutions, Corning Incorporated, Saudi Aramco, Hamilton Beach Brands, and Dow Corning Toray, in their IP related matters in China and also represents Chinese state and privately owned companies in IP matters as well as a wide range of other business activities and disputes in the U.S. and internationally.

“We see great opportunities in China with an increasing awareness on IP in recent years. The need of strategic IP legal advice from both Chinese and multinational companies is on the rise,” said Xiang Wang, head of Orrick’s China IP team. “The increased emphasis on IP, creation of the IP courts and new development of law have given some more confidence to foreign companies who do business in China as well as technology-oriented domestic companies – we are excited to see this change and are well positioned to assist our clients in the new era,” Shanghai IP partner Yufeng (Ethan) Ma added.

Earlier this year, Managing Intellectual Property also ranked Orrick “Tier 1” for patent matters in China in its 2015 IP Stars survey and shortlisted Orrick as “China Foreign Firm of the Year” in recognition of our patent, trademark and copyright work.
