Orrick recently closed an $800 million, eight-year, Rule 144A/Regulation S bond offering for Millicom International Cellular, a leading emerging markets telecom and media company. The proceeds from the offering will be used to finance a business combination between Millicom’s Colombian operations and the operations of Millicom's Colombian partner, UNE-EPM.
This offering is Millicom’s second successful corporate bond in five months, following a highly successful $500 million bond issuance in May. Leveraging the experience gained on the first bond deal, the Orrick team was able to assist Millicom in bringing this second offering to market quickly, allowing the company to capitalize on robust demand for emerging markets debt issuances.
The Orrick team included banking and debt capital markets partner David Syed, corporate partner Nell Scott, tax partner Steve Jackson, emerging markets associate Alexandra Cambouris and corporate trainee Katrina Murphy.
