Providing Research to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights In Connection with Advocacy Work Relating to GTMO

October.15.2013

A team prepared a report for the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in very short order in advance of the Commission’s meeting this week with experts examining the conditions of the remaining detainees at Guantanamo Bay.  The report summarized all of the key decisions decided by U.S. courts and military commissions on GTMO, and will be used by officials at IACHR to advocate before the United Nations.  The team will conduct follow-up research as requested.  The matter was initiated through the Vance Center, which is part of the New York City Bar Association.

The team consists of New York litigation law clerks Michael Keough and Shasha Zou, and San Francisco employment law associate Alexandra Stathopoulos.
