July.18.2013

Orrick announced today that Guy D. Singer has joined the firm as a partner in its White Collar and Corporate Investigations Practice Group, resident in New York.  Mr. Singer joins Orrick from Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, where he was head of the Government Investigations and White Collar Group for the New York office.  Prior to that, Mr. Singer served as a prosecutor for more than 13 years, at the U.S. Department of Justice ("DOJ") in the Fraud Section, as an Assistant State Attorney at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office, and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.

"Deepening our white collar bench, particularly in New York and Washington, D.C., has been one of the firm’s highest priorities," said Walt Brown, Orrick’s Managing Director of Business Units.  "We are delighted to do so with a practitioner of Guy’s caliber.  He brings impressive experience in government and private practice both in investigations and at trial."

Mr. Singer defends leading public companies, as well as individuals, in white collar and corporate compliance matters.  He has extensive experience conducting internal investigations involving alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA"), criminal antitrust investigations and prosecutions, and DOJ investigations involving the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.  While at the DOJ, Mr. Singer investigated and prosecuted white collar crime and public corruption throughout the United States, from grand jury through trials, including allegations of bribery, bank fraud, money laundering, securities fraud and violations of the FCPA and the Internal Revenue Code.  He received the "Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Ensuring Integrity of Government" for the investigation and prosecution of Jack Abramoff and related parties.

"The litigation talent at Orrick is extraordinary," said Mr. Singer.  "I am excited to join this team of trial and appellate talent and to work with my new colleagues to grow the firm’s white collar practice in New York and Washington, D.C."  Orrick’s White Collar and Corporate Investigations Group is ranked Band One by Chambers for the West Coast and The American Lawyer has named Orrick among the nation’s leading Litigation Departments in its past two bi-annual competitions.
