"Second Chance" Clinic Gets Pro Bono Clients Back on Their Feet

Through Orrick's long-standing participation in the Second Chance Legal Clinic sponsored by Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights (LCCR) of the San Francisco Bay Area, Suzy Pringle and Sonia Valdez assisted two clients in critically important applications that provide the clients with the opportunity to continue to contribute to society and maintain or access meaningful employment.

Sonia helped her client secure a criminal record exemption with the California Department of Social Services, which allowed the client to return to her job and continue on a new career path with greater opportunities for financial stability.

Suzy represented a client in obtaining a Pharmacy Technician license, after previously being denied due to a prior misdemeanor conviction.

LCCR staff attorney Meredith Desautels commented that, "Through their excellent advocacy, Sonia and Suzy have had a huge impact on the lives of these clients. We want to acknowledge their important contribution and thank them and Orrick for supporting the Second Chance Legal Clinic."

The next clinic date is August 27. If you are interested in attending the clinic or representing clients through the clinic, please contact pro bono counsel Rene Kathawala.
