Start-Up Nonprofit To Deliver Healthcare to Underserved Communities

October.22.2012

San Francisco public finance associate John Palmer, supervised by San Francisco M&A and private equity partner Richard Smith, and supported by Washington, D.C. senior antitrust and competition associate Richard Rinkema, will set up a California public charity, called the H2 Foundation, whose goal is to advance sustainable healthcare delivery in underserved communities, by assisting impactful local organizations with strategic advice and fundraising.  Two initial projects that are in the works involve assisting an Ecuadorean nonprofit, Aprofe, that provides healthcare to rural towns through mobile van clinics, and advising a hospital-building project in rural Nepal.  By “sustainable,” the client means that where previous healthcare projects have led to building with little regard for the local environment, they want to introduce environmental consciousness up front in the process.
