Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP employment law partner Patricia Gillette was honored at the first annual Transformative Leadership Awards West Coast on September 6. As the 2012 recipient of the Rainmaker Award, Ms. Gillette was recognized for her outstanding business generation efforts and exemplary client service, as well as for her advancement of other women in the profession.
Selected by an awards committee comprised of general counsel from leading corporations, the awards program, presented by InsideCounsel magazine, honors general counsel and law firm partners, located on the West Coast, who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in corporate law. The awards not only recognize career achievements, but also the individual's commitment to leadership, courage, advancement and empowerment of women.
While Ms. Gillette’s business efforts are indeed outstanding, her commitment to the advancement of women in the legal profession is just as exceptional. At Orrick, Ms. Gillette is co-head of the Women's Affinity Group. Her articles on issues relating to women in the legal industry have been widely published in state and national publications, and she speaks frequently at conferences across the nation and internationally.
In addition, Ms. Gillette is a Commissioner on the ABA Commission for Women in the Profession, a co-chair of the San Francisco Bar Association's No Glass Ceiling Initiative, a board member of the National Association of Women Lawyers Foundation, and a member of the Austin Consortium, a national group of thought leaders on women's issues in the legal profession. She also co-authored the Opt-In Report in 2007, which was the first nationwide initiative focused on changing the structure of law firms to increase the retention and advancement of women in the workplace.
