May.01.2012

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP has been selected by Yale Law Women (YLW) for inclusion in its annual Top Ten Family Friendly Firms list. YLW produces this annual report to raise awareness of gender disparities within the legal profession, as well as to highlight progress and innovative solutions. Firms were surveyed in such areas as part-time and flex-time policies, leave policies, alternative career programs and gender equity in leadership.

"We applaud Yale Law Women for undertaking such an important study and highlighting not only the challenges, but the progress firms have made in this area," said San Francisco intellectual property partner Karen Johnson-McKewan, who is co-leader of Orrick's Women's Initiative with New York structured finance partner Leah Sanzari. "We are extremely proud of this recognition and will continue to do our part to provide a workplace that promotes the advancement of women."

Orrick's Women's Initiative provides education and training to all of the firm's lawyers about the issues impacting women in the workplace. Through communication, professional development, work-life balance and flexibility, business development, recruiting and leadership, the firm strives to create a work environment that encourages professional advancement for women.
