Harry Clark, leader of Orrick’s International Trade & Compliance team, was recently interviewed on NPR’s Morning Edition regarding what may become the largest-ever foreign acquisition by a Chinese company.

The state-owned China National Chemical Corp is set to acquire Swiss seed company Syngenta after the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) reviewed the deal’s potential effect on the U.S. food supply chain. CFIUS determined that the deal did not threaten U.S. national security and approved the acquisition.

Harry noted that he expects more national security reviews in the future as mergers and acquisitions heat up, adding, “The levels of international investment in the United States, particularly from China, have been growing.”
