In this feature, Law360 highlighted our success last year for the fintech sector and the growth of our fintech team with our recent merger with Buckley. The publication named Orrick a 2022 Practice Group of the Year in Fintech.

The publication cited our fintech team for spearheading banking app Dave's $4 billion special purpose acquisition company merger and cross-border payment platform CurrencyCloud's $965 million acquisition by Visa, among other achievements. The feature also cited the impact of joining with financial services and fintech litigation and regulatory powerhouse Buckley, adding 100 attorneys across practice groups, including partner Clint Rockwell as head of Orrick's financial and fintech practice group.

"This addition is just going to strengthen and broaden our regulatory practice, especially with respect to fintech," partner Daniel Forester, deputy leader of our fintech practice, told Law360. "We're seeing a real convergence between finance and tech where traditional finance companies are starting to get more fintechy and traditional tech companies are also starting to involve themselves in the finance sphere."

Partner Josh Pollick, co-head of our Technology Companies Group, also outlined how our work for fintech clients such as Dave underscore the firm’s strengths.

"We've represented Dave for many years, and it's really a good example of the Orrick approach where we work with companies from formation to exit, and hopefully remain as their counsel after exit," Josh said. "It also showcased our capabilities across multiple practice groups, and we're proud of this transaction."
