Orrick Adds First Chair Trial Duo in NY and LA

  • Bill Oxley, an American College of Trial Lawyers Fellow, and Meghan Kelly join the firm from Baker Hostetler.
  • The pair bring a stellar record in high-stakes litigation, including product liability, life sciences, IP and major business disputes.
  • For Bill, this is a return to Orrick, where he practiced for the first two decades of his career.
  • These hires follow the firm’s addition last month of Ben Au, a tech litigator in SoCal who joined from Durie Tangri.

“Bill is on the national short list of courtroom stars – and if you have not yet heard of Meghan, my guess is you will soon,” said Peter Bicks, co-head of Orrick’s global Litigation practice. “Growing our roster of first-chairs is a top strategic priority and we are thrilled to do so with Bill and Meghan’s caliber of talent.”

A veteran of dozens of trials, Bill has won cases around the country in the areas of mass torts, products liability, bet-the-company business disputes and patent infringement, as well as handled class action and Proposition 65 litigation. Meghan has anchored trial teams in high-stakes trials involving products liability, including chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and other commercial matters

“Orrick is a go-to firm for litigation and has a powerful global client portfolio,” Bill said. “The platform they have built makes it clear that no firm is more committed to supporting trial teams in complex cases.”

“I’m excited not only to move with one of my mentors but to join a strong roster of women trial and appellate lawyers at Orrick. I am really excited to practice with this team,” said Meghan.

Orrick litigation teams have recently secured a string of high-profile trial wins and appeals this year for clients that include Sonos, Credit Suisse, the NCAA and European entrepreneur Silvio Scaglia, among others.
