Financial Times has recognized Orrick for three innovations in its 2018 Innovative Lawyers Report Europe.

  • Our collaboration with Miltton, the strategic PR and advisory firm, and Oxford Analytics, to create the Nordic West Office, a network that advises Nordic companies on how to conduct business while negotiating political changes in the US and UK. FT highlighted it as “an example of a law firm delivering strategic geopolitical consulting advice at chief executive level.” Orrick partner Charles Adams, the former U.S. Ambassador to Finland, lead the initiative from Geneva, with Douglas Lahnborg and Peter O’Driscoll from London and Kyle Drefke from Washington, D.C.
  • Our work for Ocean Rig on its precedent-setting $3.7 billion cross-border restructuring, which enabled the company to avoid Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A multidisciplinary Orrick team, led by Bill Haft in New York and Stephen Phillips in London, collaborated on this matter.
  • Our work to help establish the first pro bono clearing houses in Germany and Italy and foster a culture of pro bono in Europe was also commended. A team of lawyers in Italy and Germany, supported by our pro bono counsel Rene Kathawala in New York and Head of International Pro Bono & Community Responsibility Amy Grunske in London are driving this initiative.

Overall, the Report ranks Orrick among the top five U.S.-origin firms in Europe.

FT has also recognized Orrick for its innovative work in the Asia-Pacific edition.
