Overview

Join Orrick Total Access, NYU Tandon Future Labs, and Two Sigma Ventures for a program to educate early-stage founders on the anatomy of a term sheet. During the session, you’ll get a glimpse as what terms are important to each side of a negotiation and how to get to a close despite competing interests.

Every term sheet is negotiated, not a single startup gets funding without some sort of "battle of the minds." For decades, those conversations were not only behind closed doors, but usually confidential. Negotiations are rarely made public, which leaves a shade of mystique over the entire process. We're bringing you into the negotiation room with the a live term sheet negotiation.

How it will go down

  • Each party—both founder and their representative counsel—will reveal to the audience
    the critical points they are targeting in the negotiation. 

    • Team Startup: Lindsay Stewart & Samir Bakhru
    • Team Investor: Colin Beirne & Jonathan Chou

  • A debate-style format will ensue moderated by Orrick Tech Lead and NYC Startup Legal
    Expert, Peter Fusco.
     
  • The audience (you!) will also be able to vote for who made the best case.
