Amy Lauren, a Senior Associate in the Global Technology Transactions practice, serves as a strategic advisor to large and small companies in all stages of their development, working with them to understand and manage complex legal and technology issues in connection with contract negotiations, product development and business operations.
Amy uses her experience with technology transactions to help clients identify the key business and legal risks involved in efficiently managing technology issues that arise in a variety of contexts such as digital commerce, intellectual property, fintech, consumer regulatory, data privacy, advertising and general commercial. She advises a broad range of clients from large public and private corporations to small start-ups and non-profit organizations, across virtually all operational, revenue-generating and strategic areas of their businesses.
Amy’s transactional work includes structuring and negotiating strategic partnerships and joint ventures, and all manner of technology transactions such as software and hardware development (including artificial intelligence), OEM/hardware manufacturing and distribution, transition services, software licensing, data licensing, analytics, service provider sourcing, digital advertising and digital music and video production and distribution.
She advises clients across a spectrum of continuously innovating industries throughout the product development lifecycle, including blockchain public and private ledgers, cloud services, home automation, IoT products, simulator machines, online and mobile payments, “sharing economy” and intermediary products and services, digital music services, wearables, loyalty programs, mobile app/web site development and e-commerce.
Amy was previously American Express’ lead lawyer for its digital products and strategic partnerships group and worked closely with stored value and alternative payment products in North America, Latin America and India. Prior to American Express, she spent several years in-house as a digital music attorney (including EMI Music and Warner Music), handling digital music transactions and policy, including as the global head of Digital Legal & Business Affairs at EMI.
