Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation, although she also works with Orrick’s Public Policy Group to develop creative, multi-faceted solutions to business problems that incorporate legislative and regulatory strategies.
Before joining Orrick, Lesley was a summer associate with Shearman & Sterling LLP in São Paulo, Brazil, and with Fenwick & West LLP in Mountain View, California. She also served as a policy advisor in the Oregon State Senate during Oregon’s 2011 legislative session.
Lesley's notable engagements include the following:
City of Stockton, California. Lesley is an active member of the Orrick team representing the City of Stockton, California in its chapter 9 case. With approximately 300,000 residents, Stockton is the largest California city ever to seek bankruptcy relief. She played a key role in the trials determining Stockton’s eligibility for bankruptcy relief and the confirmation of its plan of adjustment, both of which resulted in precedent-setting opinions in Stockton’s favor. Lesley is a member of the team representing Stockton in the two appeals of the confirmation decision, one of which is pending at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the other at the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Ninth Circuit.
